Celtic defender Mikael Lustig has told Tutto Balutto that he is not fazed by the treatment he gets from Glasgow Rangers fans.

Celtic and Rangers enjoy a fierce city rivalry, and there are plenty of times that Lustig has been in conversation with Rangers fans.

However, Lustig says that he always has a trump card to play, whenever a Rangers fan tries to get the better of him.

The Swedish defender said, as translated by the Daily Express: “Sometimes you get the odd ‘f**k off’ but mostly it’s tongue in cheek.

"They might want to take a picture, do a film, posing as Celtic fans then saying something Rangers.

“I might then say ‘5-1’, and then walk away laughing.”

Lustig actually claims that Celtic’s rivalry with Rangers has died down in recent times, as the Bhoys are so far ahead of their main rivals.

Celtic have not been challenged by Rangers for some time, and have dominated Old-Firm derbies.

“I don’t think it’s the same hype, the same kind of hatred that you had back in the day,” Lustig added.

“Rangers are nowhere near us now. I imagine the tighter it is, the more important it gets to win the derbies.”

Since Brendan Rodgers took charge at Celtic, the Hoops are still unbeaten in matches against Rangers.

Celtic have also already put a huge amount of distance between themselves and Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this season, even at this early stage.

Celtic are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Dundee, while Rangers are due to face St. Johnstone on Friday evening.
