Both Newcastle United and Leeds United have been linked with Liverpool forward Danny Ings recently.

The Daily Star have stated that Leeds want to sign Ings from Liverpool on loan in the January transfer window – but competition from Newcastle means that they could be blown out of the water.
The Magpies not only have far more financial muscle than Leeds, but Ings may also feel that a move to a Premier League club would provide him with more opportunity.

Although Leeds appear to have the capabilities of fighting for promotion in the Championship, Newcastle are competing well in the Premier League.
Rafael Benitez’s side are sitting in ninth place in the top flight standings, and it seems likely that would be Ings’ first choice, if both sides enter the race for the Burnley man.

It means that Leeds should already be making contingency plans, in case they don’t manage to secure Ings’ signature, as it seems that they are going to face higher level competition for Thomas Christiansen’s main striking target in the January transfer window.
