Chelsea winger Charly Musonda has taken to Instagram to send a furious message, seemingly aimed at his lack of first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues swooped to land Musonda from Anderlecht in his native Belgium back in 2012, luring him as a teenager after emerging as one of Belgium's top young talents.

Musonda had been starring in Chelsea's youth and development sides for many years, but couldn't break through to the first team, before spending 2016 on loan with Real Betis, where he scored once in 24 games.

The wide man faced a huge summer as he weighed up whether to stay at Stamford Bridge or try his luck elsewhere in a bid to play first-team football – and he did have interest from other clubs.

As reported by the Daily Record, Musonda held talks with Celtic over a move to join Brendan Rodgers' side, where he would undoubtedly have been a key player in what would have been a major coup for the Bhoys.

Musonda decided to stay with Chelsea, but he hasn't received much playing time, as whilst he scored against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, he has played just one minute in the Premier League this term.

Some have wondered whether Celtic could launch a new move for Musonda in January with the promise of more playing time, and those lingering hopes may have been given a boost.

Late on Monday night, Musonda took to Instagram to send an ambiguous message about his sacrifice, working hard to get opportunities, but not being given them – though he did vow to keep working hard with dedication and commitment.

“You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what's expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should,” said Musonda. “And what do you get back? Literally nothing,... done. However, with this being said I will continue with same dedication and commitment to this great game,” he added.
