Christian Eriksen is one of the best and most creative midfielders in the Premier League and is a key member of the current Tottenham Hotspur team.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Eriksen scored eight goals and provided 15 assists in 36 Premier League appearances for Spurs.
So far this season, the Denmark international attacking midfielder has scored two goals and provided two assists in seven league matches.
Despite his impressive performances, Eriksen is not in the 2017 Ballon d'Or shortlist - not yet anyway.
Of the 30 players who are shortlisted for the prestigious individual award, France Football magazine has named 15 so far.
Among the Premier League-based players are Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Manchester City attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Chelsea defensive midfielder N'Golo Kante.
Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho is also in the list, and Spurs fans seem to be surprised.
Coutinho, who joined Liverpool from Inter Milan in January 2013 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £8.5 million, scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 28 Premier League starts last season.
So far this campaign, the Brazil international attacking midfielder has scored two goals and provided one assist in three league games for the Reds.
As the following comments on social networking site Twitter suggest, Tottenham supporters want Eriksen to be on the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Could any of our players be nominated for the ballon d’or? if coutinho can be nominated then surely Eriksen should.— Sam (@lad_coys) October 9, 2017
I’m sorry Liverpool fans but how on earth has coutinho made balloon door list? And Erickson not? Have I missed something?— Danny James COYS (@danwj7) October 9, 2017
