Gordon Strachan's men went into the contest knowing that their fate was in their own hands after their win over Slovakia earlier in the week which took them second in the group and in the driving seat to secure a play-off spot for next summer's World Cup.
However, while their fate is in their own hands, the Scots would have gone into the game knowing that a victory was virtually a must with Slovakia facing group minnows Malta in their final game.
But they went into the break 1-0 up thanks to a brilliant finish from Griffiths as he found the bottom right corner with an excellent volley with his left foot from a tight angle inside the box just after the half-hour mark.
Unsurprisingly, the goal attracted plenty of attention on social media, with Celtic players past and present commenting on the strike.
Henderson - who has struggled for game-time with the Hoops this term - praised his club teammate's finish, while Gary Mackay-Steven, who left for Aberdeen in the summer, also expressed his delight for the forward, who continues to enjoy a wonderful season.
Here is what both Henderson and Mackay-Steven said on social media in the wake of the goal...
