Lewis Morgan should pick Rangers ahead of Celtic

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic are reportedly interested in Lewis Morgan of St. Mirren.

St. Mirren midfielder Lewis Morgan has been linked with Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers. According to a report in The Daily Mail, both the Gers and the Hoops are interested in the 21-year-old.

Morgan is one of the best and most talented young players in Scotland. The midfielder has scored eight goals in 13 appearances for St. Mirren so far this season, according to The Daily Record.

It is clear that the midfielder is good enough to be given a crack at the Scottish Premiership, and (reported) interest from Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic should not come as a surprise to anyone.

At this moment in time, Celtic are in a much better position to sign top players and are more attractive than Rangers to play for, but Morgan should shun their advances in favour of the Gers.

As good as the Bhoys are and as good as a manager Brendan Rodgers is, it is going to be hard for Morgan to play week in and week out for the current team.

Morgan has talent and quality, but the Scotland Under-21 international is not going to progress as a footballer if he does not get playing time.

Rangers have a strong squad as well, but there is enough scope for the youngster to make a mark at Ibrox and compete with the rest of the midfielders.

If both Celtic and Rangers make offers for Morgan, then the St. Mirren youngster should pick the Gers simply for the reason that he will get more playing time at Ibrox.
