Rangers would surely struggle to meet Hibernian’s asking price to bring John McGinn to Ibrox.

Rangers may well be in the market for new signings in the January transfer window, with pundits already suggesting who Pedro Caixinha should target when the window re-opens.
BBC pundit Michael Stewart told the BBC Sport Scotland Facebook page that he felt Rangers should be looking at Hibernian’s John McGinn – though the Gers may have missed the boat, with Stewart backing him to join Celtic instead.
McGinn, 22, emerged through the ranks with St. Mirren, notching four goals in 98 games before leaving to join Hibernian in the summer of 2015.

The midfielder has become a star at Easter Road, scoring 13 times in 103 games for Hibs, whilst he has also become a Scotland international during his time in Edinburgh, earning four caps for his country.
McGinn scored twice against Celtic last weekend as his stock continues to rise, but any notion of Rangers being able to strike a deal for McGinn seems far-fetched right now.
Hibs boss Neil Lennon told STV back in August that he valued McGinn at £5million after a rejected bid of £750,000 from Nottingham Forest – and Rangers have little to no chance of getting close to £5million for the Scot.

Add in that McGinn is thought to be a huge Celtic fan, and a move to Ibrox seems somewhat unlikely if the Bhoys themselves are interested, as McGinn would surely pick his boyhood club.
Whether Brendan Rodgers needs another midfielder is another matter, given that he has Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, Stuart Armstrong, Eboue Kouassi, Kundai Benyu, Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic at his disposal, but McGinn is a huge talent – and whilst Rangers would be lucky to have him, they may have missed their chance.
