Liverpool fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to express their admiration of Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
Oblak featured for the Slovenia national football team against their England counterparts in the 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Wembley Stadium in London on Thursday evening.
The performance of the 24-year-old goalkeeper was very good, and Liverpool fans were impressed.
The Reds’ supporters want the Anfield outfit to sign Oblak, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has a £84.8 million release clause in his contract at Atletico, according to Metro.
Jan Oblak is unbelievable, what I wouldn’t give to have him at LFC!— Alex James Davies (@SuarLFC) 5 October 2017
I didn't know Jan Oblak was Slovenias goalkeeper.— Chris Bowes (@CB_LFC18) 5 October 2017
Would do most things to have Oblak at Liverpool.— The LFC Community (@LFCCommunity) 5 October 2017
But both coveted by all the big clubs? Oblak is a worldie but no reason for lfc not to go for him. Money talks— WAZ (@Waz612) 5 October 2017
Liverpool have Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius as their two main goalkeepers, but neither is particularly great.
Given the problems that Jurgen Klopp’s side have at the back, they could do with a player of Oblak’s quality between the posts.
It is not going to be easy for Liverpool to sign the former Benfica star, though. Atletico will not entertain any idea of one of their key players leaving in January, and even next summer they could be reluctant to sell one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
