Former Newcastle United and West Ham United defender Stuart Pearce has suggested to Sky Sports a weakness in Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli’s game.

Alli is one of the best young midfielders in the world and is a key figure in the current Tottenham team.

The 21-year-old England international, though, has not been in great form for Spurs so far this season.

Despite scoring two goals and providing one assist in seven Premier League appearances for Tottenham this campaign, the overall performance of the young midfielder has not been great.

Former Manchester City and Nottingham Forest manager Pearce has suggested a weakness in the game of the former Milton Keynes Dons youngster.

“Dele Alli is just going through a tough period at the moment,” Pearce told Sky Sports. “You have peaks and troughs in a career.

“Teams are giving Spurs more respect, banking up and making it tight, and I don't think Dele is great at manipulating the ball in tight spaces; he likes to have a bit more room.”

Harry Kane of Tottenham celebrates scoring to make it 1-0 during the pre-season match between Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus at Wembley Stadium on August 5, 2017 in London, England.

Meanwhile, former Tottenham forward Clive Allen has suggested to beIN Sports that Kane is the best number nine in Europe at the moment (see video below).

England international striker Kane has scored five goals in two Champions League matches and six in seven Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this season.
