Everton are being linked with a shock move for Andy Carroll.

Everton's preparations for pursuing a striker in the January transfer window have resulted in a number of transfer rumours already – and one of the more recent rumours has seen them linked with Andy Carroll.

The Toffees, who lost 1-0 at home to Burnley on Sunday afternoon to continue their dismal start to the season, spent heavily over the summer on signings such as Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

However, one problem for Ronald Koeman is that top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku left the club for Manchester United, and Everton failed to bring in a major replacement for the Belgian before the end of the summer transfer window.

Everton are now unsurprisingly struggling for goals, and with at least one centre forward needed in January, the rumours are already starting.

Over the weekend, The Sun reported that Everton want to sign West Ham United's Andy Carroll, and could launch a £20million move for the target man when the transfer window re-opens in 2018.

Carroll, 28, has hit 30 goals in 114 games for West Ham since signing from Liverpool in 2012, but the giant striker has often struggled with injuries during his time in East London.

Given his ties to Liverpool, Everton fans are far from impressed with the speculation, suggesting that 'clueless' under-fire manager Koeman should be sacked for even thinking about making a move for Carroll in January.

Meanwhile, West Ham fans reacted by claiming that they would be happy with a £20million deal for Carroll, with some happy with the idea of him leaving the London Stadium in the near future in a deal described as 'daylight robbery'.
