Glasgow Rangers striker Ryan Hardie scored a hat-trick for the Ibrox side's under-20s as they beat Brentford B on Sunday.

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise upon Ryan Hardie after the youngster scored a hat-trick to help the Gers' under-20s claim a 5-2 win over Brentford B on Sunday.

There was more attention than usual on Graeme Murty's side as the team included Kenny Miller following his exile from the first-team earlier this week.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on August 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

But while Miller did well, the headlines were stolen by his young positional rival Hardie, who bagged a treble to inspire the Light Blues to the emphatic victory.

With Caixinha's actions leaving Miller's future at Ibrox potentially in doubt - though it is not clear how long his exile from the first-team will last, or if it will end - Hardie's hat-trick could arguably have not been better timed.

The Gers do not have an abundance of striker options to pick from with Miller, Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos beginning the season as the only out-and-out forwards in the first-team, and if Caixinha has no plans to bring the former back into the fold, he will surely be looking at potentially promoting one of the youngsters.

And after his treble, there is surely no question that Hardie is the forward making the best case to be given a chance in the senior side.

The supporters have taken to social media to congratulate the 20-year-old on his performance against Brentford, and suggested that he deserves the opportunity to step up.

Here is the best of the reaction...

Does Hardie deserve an opportunity in the first-team?
