Liverpool fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Virgil van Dijk for Southampton against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Van Dijk featured for Southampton in the Premier League game against Stoke away from home at the bet365 Stadium.
The 26-year-old central defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Saints lost 2-1.
The Netherlands international centre-back was making his first league start since January.
Van Dijk brought down Stoke striker Saido Berahino in the box but his penalty was saved by Fraser Forster.
The former Celtic and Groningen star was linked with a move away from Southampton in the summer transfer window, with The Liverpool Echo crediting Liverpool with interest in him.
