Everton are reportedly interested in signing AS Roma-owned Sporting Lisbon forward Seydou Doumbia in the January transfer window.

Doumbia joined Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon from Italian powerhouse AS Roma on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Everton officials have made enquiries about a possible deal for the 29-year-old forward.

“Sporting have written a £55m release clause into his contract, despite landing him from Serie A runners-up Roma for a cut-price £3m,” states the report in The Sun. “His deal with the Primeira Liga outfit runs until 2020.”
Although Doumbia is officially on loan at Sporting from Roma, there was reportedly an obligatory purchase clause to be triggered when the forward made his first appearance.
The former CSKA Moscow man has already played in the Portuguese league and in the Champions League for the Lions, meaning that, to all intents and purposes, he is a Sporting player.

Sporting have lofty ambitions this season. Not only do Jorge Jesus’s side want to win the league title in Portugal, but they also aim to progress to the last 16 of the Champions League.
Doumbia had a loan spell at Newcastle United from Roma during the second half of the 2016-17 season.
