Sheffield Wednesday's academy has produced a number of talented prospects.

George Hirst isn't the only youngster Sheffield Wednesday should be wary of losing in 2018.

The England Under-19 striker continues to be linked with moves to other clubs, including some in the Premier League, with negotiations over a new contract understood to have entered stalemate.

Sean Clare is another Owls prospect whose deal expires at the end of the current campaign, and if his recent form is anything to go by, he's likely to have interest of his own.

Picked up from the Nike Academy in early 2016, Clare impressed not only for Wednesday's Under-23 side, but during loan spells at Bury and Accrington Stanley too.

Currently with Gillingham until January, the technically gifted attacking midfielder scored on his first start for the League One side - a neat effort tucked inside the near post with his weaker foot - and set up the winning goal on his second, on Saturday.

At this rate, Wednesday will almost certainly want to keep him beyond next summer, although with his 21st birthday coming up on Monday, Clare will perhaps want to continue his recent momentum, and avoid going back to under-23 football.

Should the Owls be looking to promote the Londoner when he returns from his current loan spell? If they don't, they could struggle to keep hold of him.
