Ronald Koeman comments on Sandro, and finding Romelu Lukaku's replacement.
Ahead of the match, Ronald Koeman has spoken about various issues in his pre-match press conference, including questions regarding Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku, who was Everton’s top scorer last season, joined Manchester United this summer, on a big money transfer.
The 24-year-old has settled in nicely at his new club, and has scored four goals so far in the Premier League. Needless to say, he is one of Everton’s main threat in the match.
Koeman has showered praise on the Belgian, saying that “he is a great finisher”, who is fast, strong, and dangerous in the box.
"We know him really well. He is a great finisher, and I hope we know how to defend him," said Koeman, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo.
"But there are a lot of qualities around him, but in the box he is dangerous, fast and strong. If we defend like we have the last few games, maybe it’s his afternoon."
Everton have spent big this summer, and it has been a massive rebuilding project. Koeman has added some very good players, but adding proper replacement of Lukaku can been seen as a failure.
Koeman has rightly said that it is not the right time for shedding frustration, because they can hardly do anything before the next transfer window kicks in.
The Dutchman has said that instead of signing a target man, they’ve added different types of strikers.
Koeman has spoken highly about new summer signing Sandro Ramirez, saying that the player needs time to adapt to a new league. The Spaniard has pace, but he is not the strongest yet.
"It’s not the time for frustration. You can’t do anything about it at this time.
"Yes, it’s different in possession now for us if you have a target man up front. It gives the team time to get up, we have different types of striker with Dominic and Sandro.
"Sandro needs time. He has pace, yes, but he is not the strongest yet. But it’s too easy to talk about the striker. Defensively we are making mistakes and that’s not the job of the striker."
