Could Everton revive interest in Orlando City striker Cyle Larin as interest mounts ahead of January?

Leeds United are the latest club linked with a move for the 22-year-old who Everton are said to have scouted in the past.

Everton's failure to replace Romelu Lukaku looks set to hold them back in their pursuit of a place in this season's top four.

Despite spending around £150 million on several decent-looking recruits, the Toffees were unable to secure the player to provide that extra attacking dimension, with even the likes of Cardiff City's Kenneth Zohore said to have been considered.

Not signing the Danish striker has since proved to have been a bullet well dodged, with only one goal to his name in seven appearances this season, while Cardiff's manager, Neil Warnock, demanded £30 million to part his top scorer from the previous campaign.

One player for whom form is not an issue - albeit in an arguably weaker league than the Championship - is Orlando City striker Cyle Larin, who has scored three goals in his last five Major League Soccer outings, and 42 in 83 overall.

The Sun this week linked the Canada international with a move to Leeds United - a club which has shown a keen eye for obscure talent in recent months, and as such finds itself atop the second tier - while European giants Besiktas, Benfica and Everton themselves, have each been credited with interest in the past.

According to reports, Larin - who stands at 6ft 2ins and moves intelligently around the 18-yard box as Lukaku does - could be available for as little £2 million in January, a price which is not only a fraction of Zohore's, but one which also minimises the risk involved in recruiting from a less established league.

And having watched the 22-year-old throughout his early career, according to the Sun, the coming transfer window could be the time that Everton finally make their move.
