Toby Alderweireld has told talkSPORT that he is leaving his future in the hands of his people and is focusing solely on Tottenham Hotspur's on-the-pitch matters for now.

The 28-year-old has reached an impasse with Tottenham over a new contract and Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked in recent weeks.

The Sun reported last week that the Belgium international - whose contract expires in two years - is worth around £60 million, with City boss Pep Guardiola reportedly a big fan of the ex-Atletico Madrid man.

In August, The Daily Mail claimed that Alderweireld was on £50,000 per week and wanted "parity" with Spurs' top earners - Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane, on £110,000 a week.

His agent, Stijn Francis, claimed earlier this month that "all the top clubs" were interested in his client, and the former Southampton centre-back has now said that he is not involved in that side of his career.

"I am trying to focus on the pitch, trying to help the team, give my quality on the field – that's important and the rest will come," he told talkSPORT.

"I have my father and my agent who are sorting out that kind of thing. Me, I am here to play football, to win things with Spurs and to give my best for the team.

"I did that from day one and I will do it now as well."
