According to The Scottish Sun, Everton are preparing a January bid for Celtic defender Anthony Ralston, who impressed against Barcelona on Tuesday night.
The Toffees signed Cuco Martina to boost their right back options in the absence of Seamus Coleman, but the Curacao international has yet to impress fans at Goodison Park.
Ronald Koeman also has youngsters Mason Holgate and Jonjoe Kenny at his disposal, but another young right back appears to be a target for Everton ahead of the January transfer window.
The Scottish Sun report that Everton continue to be impressed by Celtic's Anthony Ralston, and are now preparing a January move having scouted him regularly this season.
Ralston, 18, has come up through the ranks at Celtic, and is the latest academy prospect to thrive in the first team after Kieran Tierney's emergence in recent years.
The right back started against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek and, despite Celtic's 5-0 defeat, Ralston did put in a spirited showing against Neymar, and that display could leave the Bhoys fighting to keep the teenager.
With Everton now believed to be plotting a January move, the Toffees should in fact consider asking about a double deal, involving Ralston's Celtic team-mate Moussa Dembele.
Everton finished the summer transfer window without a new centre forward, and they must push to bring in a replacement for Romelu Lukaku when the January window opens.
Whilst he hasn't featured this season due to injury, 21-year-old striker Dembele possesses what Everton need; a centre forward who can lead the line on his own whilst possessing speed – which Everton desperately lack – as well as strength and predatory instincts, having hit 32 goals in all competitions last season.
Celtic certainly won't want to lose both Ralston and Dembele, but Everton would be smart to target both players in what would be a double deal with one eye on the future at Goodison Park.
