Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha is weighing up a January approach for Kenny McLean, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Aberdeen midfielder was the subject of Ibrox interest during the summer transfer window, but the Gers were unable to prise him from Pittodrie.

And despite recruiting three central midfielders already during Caixinha's six-month reign, it would appear as though Rangers remain keen on McLean.

The 25-year-old is in the final year of his Aberdeen deal, which means Rangers can approach him about signing a pre-contract from New Year's day should he fail to agree a new one by then.

McLean would not be the first Dons player to see out his deal in order to facilitate a move to Ibrox, after Ryan Jack, his old partner-in-crime, did likewise earlier this year.

The Scottish Sun has also reported that Rangers could try to sign Motherwell contract rebel Louis Moult under the same circumstances.

Moult has already turned down the Fir Park club's offer of an extension.

Should Rangers make moves for McLean and Moult in January?
