Gillingham have borrowed Clare from Sheffield Wednesday until January.
Gillingham midfielder Sean Clare celebrates (centre)
On loan Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Clare marked his first start for Gillingham with a goal.
The former Nike Academy talent moved to Priestfield at the end of the summer transfer window on a deal until January, and made his debut as a substitute in the Kent side's 2-1 defeat against Shrewsbury Town the weekend before last.
Though he remained on the bench as Gillingham went down 3-0 at Oxford United on Saturday, Clare was sworn in from the start at Wimbledon three days later.

And despite the Gills going a goal and a man down at Kingsmeadow, they left with a point courtesy of Clare's low left-footed effort which found its way through a crowd of bodies and in off the near post.
Manager Ady Pinnock's said of the Wednesday prospect afterwards:
AP: "@sean8clare's got talent and he’s got a good future. I’m very pleased that he scored & obviously he’s very happy. I’m buzzing for him."— Gillingham FC (@TheGillsFC) 12 September 2017
And the Gillingham fans were perhaps even more impressed, based on the following tweets.
Really impressive tonight. Mature head considering you had to control the right side on your own, scoring complements your efforts— DB (@DomGFCBallard) 12 September 2017
Nice goal Sean, very accurate in off the post! Also good to see you with the ball at your feet making positive runs forward— Neil Williamson (@Neil_7) 12 September 2017

Top drawer tonight, put in a real good shift and deserved the goal. Keep those performances coming— JM (@JonMurphyy) 12 September 2017
Great performance...covered every blade of grass and not afraid to put in challenges. Nice positive burst into the box for the goal too— The First Eleven (@TheFirstEleven1) 12 September 2017
Clare signed a new contract at Wednesday earlier this year, and will be keen to make more of a name for himself at Gillingham ahead of his return to Hillsborough in the New Year.
