Confirmed Sunderland v Nottingham Forest line-ups: Matthews starts, McKay on the bench

Sunderland host Nottingham Forest in the Championship this evening.

Sunderland will be hoping to bounce back this evening, as they take on Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light having been beaten by Sheffield United 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Simon Grayson's men have now lost three league games in a row after an initially starting the season well, and Sunderland need to hit back tonight.

The Black Cats line up with Robbin Ruiter in goal, with Adam Matthews, Tyias Browning, Marc Wilson and Bryan Oviedo forming the back four.

Lee Cattermole returns in midfield alongside Didier Ndong, with George Honeyman, Jonny Williams and Callum McManaman supporting striker Lewis Grabban, as Aiden McGeady is out.

Summer signings Jason Steele and James Vaughan are on the bench, alongside veterans like Jack Rodwell, Darron Gibson and Billy Jones, and youngsters Donald Love and Lynden Gooch.

Meanwhile, Forest lost 3-1 at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, meaning it's two defeats in a row for Mark Warburton's men, and they will also be looking for a strong response.

Jordan Smith starts in goal after Adam Federici was sent back to Bournemouth due to injury, with Tendayi Darikwa, Matt Mills, Joe Worrall and Armand Traore forming the defence in front of him.

Liam Bridcutt, Andreas Bouchalakis and Ben Osborn start in midfield, with Kieran Dowell and Ben Brereton supporting lone striker and former Sunderland flop Daryl Murphy.

Barrie McKay and Jason Cummings are only named on the bench tonight, alongside Eric Lichaj, Danny Fox, Zach Clough, Mustapha Carayol and backup goalkeeper Stephen Henderson.
