Former Tottenham Hotspur player and manager Ossie Ardiles has taken to Twitter to have his say on Davinson Sanchez's debut for the North London club.

The Colombian international signed for Spurs from Ajax in a club-record deal earlier this summer, and big things are expected of the 21-year-old, who did not disappoint in his first appearance for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Brazil's Willian (L) is marked by Colombia's Davinson Sanchez during their 2018 World Cup qualifier football match in Barranquilla, Colombia, on September 5, 2017.

"What a debut from Davinson Sanchez," Ardiles wrote on Sunday morning.  "Not easy to come and play in the Premier League. He looks like he already belong(s) here. Great future. COYS."

Tottenham's new arrival played in a back three alongside Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld and the trio should keep plenty of clean sheets over the course of the entire campaign.

While Spurs struggled for much of the transfer window there was a late flurry of activity that ensured Pochettino strengthened in some key areas, most notably up front and at right-back.

The additions of Sanchez and Juan Foyth were, at first glance, less important, but the way the former has started life at Tottenham he could soon prove to be a bargain despite his hefty price tag.

Next up for Tottenham is the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, and Sanchez will be hoping to build on his impressive European outings last season for Ajax, in which time he made it all the way to the Europa League final.
