Barnsley were dealt a big blow last night as the EFL rejected their loan move for Oliver McBurnie.

The promising Swansea City striker had been unveiled as a Barnsley player after 'clinching' a transfer deadline day move.

BBC Sport reported the paperwork did not go through on time and Barnsley had been unsuccessful in their appeal.

McBurnie was desperate to make the move as he hoped to play first team football.

He had not been in Swansea's first team plans despite a prolific spell for the under-23s last season.

McBurnie comments on Twitter after the news was announced, expressing that he was stunned.

McBurnie's deal was delayed as Swansea had wanted to seal the transfer of Wilfried Bony back from Manchester City before letting him go.

With Fernando Llorente leaving there is still a chance he could fight his way into Paul Clement's first team plans, although Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham remains in his path.

Here is a look at how Barnsley fans reacted on Twitter to the breakdown of the move...
