Erik Lamela was recently left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League squad.

It is 11 months since Erik Lamela last played a game for Tottenham Hotspur and his comeback appears no closer.
Lamela underwent a hip operation earlier this year but was this week left out of the club’s Champions League squad.
The talented winger’s situation has caught attention in his homeland, with Argentina hoping he would be available for the 2018 World Cup.

Spurs legend Ricky Villa has been relaying his concern, when quizzed about it on Argentine radio.
Website Bola VIP reported he told AM 950: “There is concern to know if he will play again.
“In England they are worried about him, but, because of how the medicine is today, I hope he can come back.”
Villa sounds far from convinced that Lamela will be able to return, and many Tottenham fans are also worried.

Lamela has lost two of his four seasons at Spurs due to injury and is now in his fifth campaign since his move from Roma.
He is a player who Mauricio Pochettino managed to get the best out of, and began to really trust.
Early in 2016/17 he appeared primed to really kick on, but his injury has brought about a nightmare year for the winger.
There is a lack of clarity from the club about his situation, with no realistic time frame put on his return, which keeps on being pushed back.
