Leeds United fans have urged the club to make a last ditch attempt to try and hijack a late move for Jota.
Jota is a proven player at Championship level, who performed prolificly in the second half of last season after returning form a loan spell in Spain.
In four games this season he has provided three assists, and at £6 million he will be a coup for Birmingham.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Leeds fans are urging the club to slap in a bid of their own and try and bring the 26-year-old to Elland Road.
While the Whites already have Spanish maestro Samu Saiz, the prospect of the two playing together is a potentially promotion winning combination.
Leeds have money to spend after selling Chris Wood, and Jota is good value for money.
Here is a look at how supporters reacted to Birmingham's big move...
Why haven't we gone in for Jota? Absolute steal for 6 mil!! Wages wouldn't be an issue either! #LUFC— Sam Bellerby (@SamBellerby) August 31, 2017
Jota at 6 million? Absolutely criminal not to have matched that!! #lufc— Tom O'Hare (@tohare3) August 31, 2017
Jota for 6 million is a steal! What a terrific player Birmingham are getting for that price. Leeds should of been all over that! #lufc— Ben (@BenSpencer_x) August 31, 2017
We should've been all over Jota for 6mill! Would've been perfect for us! Bargain that #LUFC— Glynn (@GlynnTQ) August 31, 2017
