Newcastle set to miss out on Targett

The Daily Mail's live transfer feed (31st August 2017; 19:14) has reported that Newcastle United look set to miss out on two of their targets in the final hours of the window.

As well as Chelsea blocking a deal for Kenedy, the Mail reports that the Magpies have been unable to agree terms with Southampton full-back Matt Targett

Southampton see Robson approach rejected

The Saints may be pleased that Targett looks set to stay as Sky Sports' live transfer feed (31st August 2017; 19:01) reports that the Premier League side have seen an approach for Dundee United left-back Jamie Robson turned down.

Robson's contract expires next summer, according to Sky Sports, but Dundee United have no plans to sell the Southampton target.

Sheffield Wednesday reject Leicester bid for Hirst

According to Sky Sports' live transfer feed (31st August 2017; 18:30 pm), Sheffield Wednesday have rejected a bid from Leicester City for young striker George Hirst.

The Foxes offered £2 million plus add-ons for the 18-year-old - who has made two first-team appearances for the Owls - but the Championship side have rejected the offer, Sky Sports reports.

Birmingham confirm club-record deal

Birmingham City have confirmed on their official website that they have completed a club-record deal to sign Brentford playmaker Jota.

The Spaniard becomes the second player to swap Griffin Park for St Andrew's during the latter days of the transfer window, with Harlee Dean making the same move.

No deal for Davis

Sky Sports' live transfer feed (31st August 2017; 18:45 pm) also suggests that the Blues have rejected a bid from Derby County for midfielder David Davis.

Davis was an important player for Rams boss Gary Rowett during his time at St Andrew's, but it appears that he will not be reunited with him at Pride Park during this window.
