Liverpool appear to be on the verge of completing a stunning deal, with reports suggesting that a club-record fee for RB Leipzig ace Naby Keita has been agreed, though he would only join in 2018.

The Reds, who enjoyed a superb 4-0 home win over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, have brought in Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke to boost their squad this summer, but they looked to be missing out on the top target.

Jurgen Klopp had been hoping to land RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, but the German outfit stood firm and rejected a host of Liverpool bids as they attempted to keep hold of their star midfielder.

However, Liverpool have now swooped in to land their man, with The Liverpool Echo reporting that the Reds have agreed to sign Keita, but he will only join in 2018 despite undergoing a medical on Monday.

It's noted that Keita has a £48million release clause that can be activated next summer, but Liverpool have beaten the competition to land him, agreeing to pay a premium on top of that amount in order to secure his signature for the start of next season.

The Guinean international, 22, starred last season with eight goals and seven assists in his first Bundesliga campaign, having joined Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg last summer.

With Liverpool set to break their transfer record for Keita - a record which was only broken earlier this summer with the deal for Mohamed Salah - fans have been taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the move.

Many are ecstatic to see Keita sign on the dotted line at Anfield, believing that he is the perfect fit for Klopp's style of play, with some simply stunned that Liverpool managed to pull off a deal that many thought was dead.

Others are still a little concerned about the squad right now, given that Keita will only be arriving in a year's time, with a number of fans keen to see Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches arrive on loan in the meantime.
