Dwight Gayle's future at Newcastle United is in doubt, with The Mail reporting the Premier League side could sell him to raise funds.
Gayle scored 22 goals last season to fire Newcastle to promotion, and there will be no shortage of clubs keen to take him on.
SkyBet report Wolves are current favourites, and his former chairman believes Gayle would be a superb signing for the club.
Darragh MacAnthony bought and sold Gayle for Peterborough United, and he responded on Twitter to a question from a Wolves supporter about Gayle.
Would be money well spent if true. Is Medes his agent now . But seriously that would be game changer for you boys re promotion imo https://t.co/Vor1VOlSOZ— Darragh MacAnthony (@DMAC102) August 28, 2017
Wolves have had a strong start to the season, earning 10 points from five games to sit in fourth place heading into the international break.
They have only scored seven goals in those five games, and bringing in a prolific striker could make a big improvement to their promotion chances.
The Championship is a tough division to get out off, but Gayle is a proven commodity. Wolves certainly have the cash to make a deal happen.
