Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the mix to sign Burnley striker Ashley Barnes ahead of this week's transfer deadline, Sky Bet's latest odds suggest.

The Daily Mirror reported Burnley will listen to offers for Barnes following the club-record capture of Chris Wood from Leeds United, with Newcastle United, Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough all keen.

But Wolves are also in the market for a centre forward and are now second on the bookmakers' list of likely destinations, behind Newcastle (4/1) at 8/1.

Despite the speculation about his future, Barnes came off the bench for Burnley against Tottenham on Sunday, playing the final 33 minutes at Wembley.

But the 27-year-old may fancy a change of scenery, especially if it means playing regular first team football.

And Wolves, who have only Nouha Dicko and Leo Bonatini as recognised strikers, could be an attractive option.

Barnes has played 150 times at Championship level, scoring 29 goals and assisting 14, and has been promoted twice with the Clarets.
