West Ham United’s disappointing start to the season continued on Saturday afternoon, as they went down 3-0 to Newcastle United away from home in the Premier League.
The Hammers had lost their opening two league matches 4-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford and Southampton 3-2 at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Newcastle had also lost their opening two Premier League fixtures, and West Ham fans must have been optimistic heading into the match at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.
Slaven Bilic’s side, though, suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat. Joselu put Newcastle in the lead after 36 minutes, and Ciaran Clark and Aleksandar Mitrovic found the net in the second half.
Newcastle were the better team throughout the 90 minutes at St. James’ Park and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.
Desperate performance at St James's Park which is very worrying #whufc— Trevor Sinclair (@trevor8sinclair) August 26, 2017
Always going to be tough having to play every game away at the start of the season https://t.co/nTuRjCTQ69— Trevor Sinclair (@trevor8sinclair) August 26, 2017
Hammers unlucky. Mitrovic just did an 'Arnautovic' to Lanzini. Red all day long. Officials missed it.— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) August 26, 2017
Mitrovic for 3. He shouldn't even be on the pitch.— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) August 26, 2017
I fail to see how it's my fault that Mitrovic can't behave on a football pitch. What he did today was disgraceful. He has to get done.— Richard Keys (@richardajkeys) August 26, 2017
