West Ham United’s disappointing start to the season continued on Saturday afternoon, as they went down 3-0 to Newcastle United away from home in the Premier League.

The Hammers had lost their opening two league matches 4-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford and Southampton 3-2 at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Newcastle had also lost their opening two Premier League fixtures, and West Ham fans must have been optimistic heading into the match at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.

Slaven Bilic’s side, though, suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat. Joselu put Newcastle in the lead after 36 minutes, and Ciaran Clark and Aleksandar Mitrovic found the net in the second half.

Newcastle were the better team throughout the 90 minutes at St. James’ Park and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.

Former West Ham winger Trevor Sinclair has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the defeat for the London club.

Meanwhile, well-known sports presenter Richard Keys has strongly criticised Newcastle striker Mitrovic on Twitter.
