Everton are looking to land a striker before the transfer window closes, as Ronald Koeman is “desperate” for a forward to replace Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United this summer.
The 29-year-old striker has been with Watford since 2010, and scored 10 goals in the Premier League last season.
However, the Watford skipper’s position is under threat following the arrival of Andre Gray from Burnley, sparking interest from Premier League rivals.
The report runs: “Toffees manager Ronald Koeman is desperate for a forward to replace Romelu Lukaku and has Deeney, 29, in his sights.”
Everton are also keeping a close eye on Real Sociedad’s Willian Jose, while Cardiff’s Kenneth Zohore could be an option as well.
According to reports from Daily Star Sunday, Everton are also considering making a move for Chelsea striker, Diego Costa. However, Deeney could be a cheaper alternative.
Everton could face strong competition from West Brom, with Tony Pulis making Deeney his main target this week.
