Everton have been reportedly linked with a move for Leicester City's Jamie Vardy.
Everton have spent heavily in bolstering almost every area of the pitch, but they still need a top striker to replace Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United this summer.
Chelsea were thought to be preparing a £40 million move for the England international. The report claims that the Toffees are now planning to hijack the deal.
Vardy turned down a move to Arsenal last summer, but Everton have got an indication that he could be open to new challenges.
The 30-year-old signed a new deal last year, worth around £100,000 a week, and he knows that he could receive a better wage offer from both Chelsea and Everton.
Ronald Koeman is also reportedly interested in signing Chelsea striker Diego Costa, either permanently or on a loan move.
