Aston Villa came from a goal down to pick up a 1-1 draw away at Bristol City on Friday night, with Joshua Onomah's deflected equaliser handing them a share of the spoils at Ashton Gate.

Villa went into the game having beaten Norwich City 4-2 last weekend and Wigan Athletic 4-1 in midweek, whilst Bristol City followed up a 0-0 draw with Millwall by beating Watford in the Carabao Cup.

Steve Bruce's Villa side took on the Robins just hours after completing the loan signing of Robert Snodgrass, but the Scot couldn't take part in the game, and he saw Bristol City take the lead after Jamie Paterson found the bottom corner of the net following a scramble inside the box.

Lee Johnson's men didn't hold onto their lead for long, as just four minutes, Joshua Onomah's long-range strike took a huge deflection and looped over goalkeeper Frank Fielding for the equaliser.

Neither side could find a winner, meaning Villa travel back to the Midlands with a point - and manager Bruce will be encouraged by the performance of goalscorer Onomah.

The 20-year-old, who joined Villa on loan from Tottenham earlier this month, started in midfield against Bristol City, and produced an impressive display, even without factoring in his goal.

After the final whistle, Villa fans took to Twitter to praise the youngster, suggesting that he was man of the match for Villa and on a different level to his team-mates, even if some were concerned about his tackling ability.

Others are keen to see Villa sign Onomah permanently, but with many acknowledging that Tottenham have a gem in the young midfielder, a permanent deal seems almost impossible for Villa and Bruce, though fans can enjoy Onomah for the duration of this season.
