West Ham star James Collins fires ominous warning to Newcastle ahead of crunch clash

West Ham United face Newcastle United in a crunch clash on Saturday and James Collins has an ominous warning for the Magpies.

With both sides yet to earn a point, something has to give at St James' Park.

The Hammers lost both their opening Premier League games, 4-0 to Manchester United and 3-2 to Southampton before a 2-0 win over Cheltenham in the League Cup.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are yet to taste victory and have been beaten 2-0 and 1-0 by Tottenham Hotspur and Huddersfield in the league respectively and then 3-2 by Nottingham Forest in the cup.

Slaven Bilic is already under pressure according to The Mirror with the likes of Laurent Blanc and Thomas Tuchel reportedly being lined up to replace him.

Meanwhile Rafa Benitez, who has himself been linked with the Hammers hot seat, has publicly stated his unhappiness with the recruitment and transfer budget at St James' Park this summer.

The two teams clash on Saturday where something will have to give in what promises to be one of the most intriguing matches of the new season so far.

And to spice things up further still, former Magpies star and the perennially injured Andy Carroll - who has been linked with a return to his boyhood club - could well feature after nearly six months out with his latest injury.

Speaking to the club's official website Collins, who was named man of the match on his own return to the side in midweek, has warned Benitez's men West Ham mean business.

"I’d love to play (against Newcastle), I’ll be involved... I'm raring to go," Collins told whufc.com.

“Wednesday night was big and a few of the boys probably don’t realise how big it was. I’ve been around the game a long time and a result like that can get the momentum going, and hopefully it can do that.

“We can go to Newcastle and if we can stop the individual errors, with Chicha (Javier Hernandez), Andy and Diafra (Sakho) we can score goals and win games.”
