New Leeds United signing Jay-Roy Grot has sent a message to supporters on Instagram expressing his excitement at signing up.

Grot's message read: "So happy to sign for @leedsunited!! Great to be here, can't wait to play at Elland Road!".

Grot sealed his transfer to Leeds from NEC Nijmegen on Thursday morning in a deal which was concluded swiftly by the Whites.

SkySports report Grot could go into the Leeds squad for this weekend's Championship fixture away to Nottingham Forest for Thomas Christiansen's side.

Grot is seen as part of the attacking jigsaw at Leeds, who are searching for another striker who will help replace Chris Wood, who was sold to Burnley earlier this week.

The New Zealand ace netted 27 times last year, but Leeds have already shown this season they have talent in attacking areas and are capable of spreading the goals around.

New signing Samu Saiz has been an instant success, netting five times already, and if Grot can have a similar impact then Leeds will stand a strong chance of mounting a challenge for promotion.

Leeds enter the weekend's fixture unbeaten after four Championship games so far, but so do opponents Nottingham Forest.
