Popular bookmakers BETVICTOR have installed the Saints as shock joint favourites in the race to sign Blues hitman Loic Remy.

The 30-year-old’s future with Chelsea is hanging by a thread, following Alvaro Morata’s arrival in west London, and he will surely be looking for more regular action if he is to salvage his flagging career.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to a plethora of clubs, according to Sky Sports, after Antonio Conte made it clear that there is no place for the striker in his squad.

And BETVICTOR believe that Remy could very well be plying his trade on the south coast this season, listing Southampton as joint 6/1 favourites alongside Lazio and Marseille to sign the speedy forward.

The former Newcastle man has everything that Mauricio Pellegrino’s side currently lack – pace, experience and a winning mentality, and he would surely be an asset to the Saints starting line-up.

And if the Argentine does manage to find a way of bringing the Frenchman to St Mary’s, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Southampton.
