Leeds United fans want Southampton's Shane Long to replace Chris Wood

Leeds United sold Chris Wood to Burnley earlier today.

Leeds United fans are urging Thomas Christiansen to buy Southampton forward Shane Long with the money raised from Chris Wood’s sale to Burnley.

Wood joined Burnley today, in a deal which The Sun has reported to be worth £15 million.

While losing Wood is a blow to Leeds, the large fee that Burnley have paid to land the striker is some consolation.

And Leeds fans now want to see the money re-invested into their team.

There is a feeling that if Leeds can buy some quality with the cash from Wood’s sale, then they may not be too badly affected by their star striker’s departure.

And Leeds fans have put Southampton striker Long, who is a boyhood supporter of the Whites, right at the top of their wish list.

Long has struggled to nail down a place in Southampton’s first-team in recent times, and could be available this summer.

The Republic of Ireland international scored three goals in 29 Premier League games last season.
