Newcastle United lost 1-0 away at Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.

Newcastle United made it two defeats from two Premier League games this afternoon with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Magpies lost their opening game of the season with a 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, and manager Rafael Benitez was hoping for better as he took his side to West Yorkshire.

However, Newcastle failed to really stamp their authority on the game and ultimately lost 1-0, with Huddersfield's midfield maestro Aaron Mooy smashing home a superb winning goal for the hosts.

Newcastle did attempt to rally, but squandered their opportunities as they were resigned to another defeat, leaving Benitez with plenty to think about ahead of the club's next Premier League game, the home clash with West Ham United next weekend.

Benitez did hand a debut to new signing Joselu, with the Spanish striker coming on as a second-half substitute following his move from Stoke City earlier this week, as he was called upon to boost the Magpies' chances of finding an equaliser.

Whilst he did have a couple of openings, Joselu ultimately couldn't find the goal that Newcastle needed, and fans have been taking to Twitter to react to his debut performance at the John Smith's Stadium.

Many fans took to Twitter to suggest that Joselu made a real impact, and ultimately looked like more of a goal threat during his time on the pitch than striker Dwight Gayle, who struggled in attack for the Magpies.

Others called on Benitez to hand Joselu a start against West Ham next weekend, with fans seemingly encouraged by his cameo appearance against Huddersfield, suggesting he could be the best option to lead the line for Newcastle going forward.
