The Turkish striker has played just four times under Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic striker Nadir Ciftci is set to to join Plymouth Argyle on a season-long loan, The Scottish Sun reports.

Ciftci has played just four times under Brendan Rodgers, and was overlooked in favour of midfield teammate Tom Rogic during the Bhoys' recent injury crisis.

According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic are closing in on a loan deal of their own, with winger Patrick Roberts poised to return to Parkhead from Manchester City.

And it is claimed the Englishman could take on the number seven shirt soon to be vacated by Ciftci, who still has two years to run on his Bhoys contract.

The Turk began his professional career with Plymouth's south coast rivals Portsmouth, before spells in both his homeland and the Netherlands.

He later scored 33 goals in 82 games for Dundee United, leading to a £1.5 million switch to Celtic two years ago, and former Ross County boss Derek Adams will hope the player can rediscover his Terrors' form at Home Park.

Can the Celtic outcast get back to his best at Plymouth?
