The former Sunderland boss is said to be a favourite should Carvalhal fail to turn things around at Sheffield Wednesday.

Just two games into the new Championship season, Sheffield Wednesday are already being linked with a managerial changeover.

With only one point accrued in that time, Carlos Carvalhal's credentials are under scrutiny, and according to a report in this week's Sun on Sunday, the Owls could turn to ex-Sunderland boss David Moyes if he cannot turn things around.

Moyes' name is said to be 'being whispered in the corridors of power' at Hillsborough, where Wednesday entertain Sunderland later this week.

The 54-year-old quit the Stadium of Light earlier this summer, after failing to keep Sunderland in the Premier League.

And after struggling at both Real Sociedad and Manchester United before then, Moyes, it seems, would not be the most popular choice to replace Carvalhal - despite his success at Everton and Preston North End.

Nevertheless, there are some supporters who would welcome his arrival at Wednesday.
