Newcastle fans were bemused at the hype for young Tottenham talent Kyle Walker-Peters.
Tottenham Hotspur talent Kyle Walker-Peters stepped into the first team and helped deliver a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Newcastle on his debut at the weekend.
It was a potentially tough game for the 20-year-old considering Spurs conceding five goals the last time they visited St James’ Park.
Walker-Peters’ effort saw him earn a man-of-the-match award, and nominated by SkySports in a poll of four players asking who had the most impressive Premier League debut.

Tottenham fans are understandably delighted to have a new talent in for first team selection, but Newcastle supporters were less than impressed with the right-back’s contribution.
They took to Twitter to slam the decision to award the young defender man-of-the-match, believing he was given the run around by winger Christian Atsu, and only grew into the match after Newcastle were reduced to 10 men.
Atsu did manage to attempt four crosses against Tottenham, but did not manage to find a teammate with a single one of them.
This showed he at least got into promising positions at Walker-Peters’ expense, but a perfect performance from the youngster was always going to be unlikely. He still exceeded expectation and showed why he is a real talent to watch for the future.
Walker-Peters will have a big opportunity this weekend when he takes on Chelsea at Wembley. If he comes through than unscathed, Tottenham fans really should get excited.
