As announced on West Ham’s official website in May, the Premier League outfit have activated a two-year option in Adrian’s contract.
This means that the 30-year-old goalkeeper will remain at the London Stadium until the summer of 2019.
However, the signing of England international goalkeeper Joe Hart on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City in the summer transfer window has raised doubts over the future of the Spaniard.
According to The Sun, both Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are interested in the Spaniard, but manager Bilic has said that he wants the goalkeeper to remain part of his team.
Bilic has said that West Ham want to hand Adrian a new deal, and his comments will surely come as a blow to Newcastle and Palace.
“We want to give him a longer contract to show him how much we want him and respect him,” Bilic told The Sun about Adrian.
“The chairman wants him to stay, I want him to stay and so do the players. He’s very important on the pitch and is great in the dressing room. You want competition. We will look after him.”
Adrian is a very good goalkeeper who has been a success in the Premier League, and the Spaniard would be a good signing for Newcastle or Palace.
However, it seems that West Ham want the 30-year-old to remain at the Hammers, but it remains to be seen what the goalkeeper wants to do.
