Leeds United drew 0-0 at home with Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds United were held to a 0-0 draw by Preston North End on Saturday afternoon as Thomas Christiansen was prevented from making it three wins in a week.

The Whites had kickstarted their season with a 3-2 win over Bolton Wanderers last weekend before hammering Port Vale 4-1 in the Carabao Cup in midweek, but their attack failed to hit the same heights against Preston.

Leeds did have their chances, with the best opportunity falling to Chris Wood, who couldn't beat Chris Maxwell when one-on-one with the goalkeeper, whilst Maxwell was also forced into a double save to keep 10-man Preston in the game, after Ben Pearson had been sent off on 60 minutes for a second bookable offence.

Preston did almost snatch all three points late in the day as Josh Harrop's shot was deflected onto the crossbar after a dangerous run into the box, but the game ended in stalemate.

With 63% of possession, Leeds will feel somewhat disappointed to have failed to score, with Preston stifling them and frustrating the Elland Road crowd - a stark contrast to last season, when Leeds beat Preston 4-1 and 3-0.

After the game, a number of Leeds players took to Twitter to offer their reactions, with defender Liam Cooper admitting that it was tough to take a 0-0 draw, feeling that the Whites should have claimed all three points.

Fellow defender Luke Ayling noted that it was a hard-earned point as Preston are a very good team with outstanding work rate, praising the Leeds fans for their part in the win.

Midfielder Eunan O'Kane also sent a message to fans, claiming he was disappointed with only a draw but did feel that Leeds weren't quite at their best, even if they created enough chances to win the game.
