Clough featured for Forest in the Championship game against Brentford away from home at Griffin Park in the Championship.
The 22-year-old, who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder, started the match and played for the first 45 minutes.
Forest maintained their strong start to the season with a 4-3 victory over Brentford away from home.
It was the Reds’ third win in a row this season, following success against Millwall at the City Ground in the Championship and against Shrewsbury Town at home in the first round of the EFL Cup.
Forest fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Clough against Brentford on Saturday afternoon - they were not pleased with the display produced by the player for whom the Reds paid Bolton Wanderers £3 million in the January transfer window, according to The Nottingham Post.
I don't think he had a touch first half, too lightweight imo— SPL_1993 (@SNffc93) August 13, 2017
It is a concern that he has been a peripheral figure so far this season.Has the ability to be successful but needs to bulk up. #nffc— Dave Smith (@eracdave) August 13, 2017
Maybe a player that would be better suited to home games.— Chappo (@chappo2611) August 13, 2017
We are currently playing him in positions that don't suit and it isn't working. He's a cracking player and I really hope it works out— Forest Revived (@AdotOfNotts) August 13, 2017
Luv Clough as a player but does anyone else think he's not been at the races in a Forest shirt yet?#NFFC— Wayne Cooper (@waynecoops1981) August 13, 2017
Have look much better going forward since Clough got taken off #NFFC— NorthWestRed (@red_till_death) August 12, 2017
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon, visitors Forest had 43% of the possession, took 13 shots of which six were on target, and earned three corners, according to BBC Sport.
