Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has told De Telegraaf that the club have offered a new deal to defender Davinson Sanchez - but the Daily Mail report that Tottenham are pressing ahead with a £35million move.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Tottenham are making a huge £35million move to sign Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez, in a deal which would break the club's transfer record.
Sanchez, 21, only joined Ajax from Atletico Nacional in his native Colombia last summer, but he starred for the Eredivisie giants throughout their league campaign, whilst also impressing in the club's run to the Europa League final.
A tall centre back with impressive pace and strength, Sanchez has shown real potential with Ajax, and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino may now see the Colombian international as a player who can not only make an impact immediately, but also lead his defence in the long term.
Ajax have already lost Davy Klaassen to Everton this summer, and the club's director of football - former Arsenal star Marc Overmars - has outlined his intention to try and keep the club's star defender at the Amsterdam Arena.

Overmars has told De Telegraaf that Ajax are offering Sanchez a new contract to stay with the club, which is believed to be worth around £54,000-a-week.
It remains to be seen whether frugal Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is willing to match such an offer or cough up the alleged £35million, but with Sanchez left out of the side to face Heracles Almelo this evening due to transfer speculation, a move to North London could be on the cards for Sanchez.
