Leeds United fans react to Liam Bridcutt omission on Twitter.
Liam Bridcutt will play no part in Leeds United's visit of Preston North End this afternoon.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who was Leeds' captain last season, was left out of the squad by head coach Thomas Christiansen.
Having played in Wednesday night's win over Port Vale, it would not appear as if he is injured.
And fans of the Yorkshire club on Twitter have reacted to the news, with several believing that the former Sunderland man will not be a Leeds player beyond the end of the transfer window.
Cant see Bridcutt being here beyond end of transfer window. High earner not playing. Can you Phil?— Lee Thompson (@lufcThommo) August 11, 2017
Would sell Bridcutt....deserves chance elsewhere, but we need to move to next level— AW (@AWwhite1) August 11, 2017
Bridcutt was brilliant on Wednesday night, shame that— Chris Moody (@chrismoody83) August 11, 2017
I don't like the feeling I'm getting about the manager / clubs opinion on Bridcutt. He will be a loss if we push him out. Hard worker— Robie (@TheRealRobNeal) August 12, 2017
Klich and Bridcutt not making the squad is testament to the depth we've got this season. We've come a long way from last year #lufc— SouthStand LUFC (@SouthStand_LUFC) August 11, 2017
Bridcut is out of the door...shame when we needed him he was there.Played well as well.— Paul (@rissyone) August 11, 2017
Bridcutt surely must be surplus to land phil?— gjengland (@gjengland) August 11, 2017
Bridcutt will be gone by end of month— Jim Marsden (@jimbobm52) August 11, 2017
Bridcutt, in his defence, is a fine midfielder but if he's not making the Leeds squad on a regular basis then, as fans have pointed out, there's a very positive implication in regards to Christiansen's direction.
He also played no role in the 3-2 win at Bolton last week, with Kalvin Phillips, who scored twice, and Eunan O'Kane deployed in central midfield.
And another win over Preston today would lessen the long-term need for Bridcutt.
