Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has his say on Philippe Coutinho's transfer situation.

Liverpool are heading into the brand new Premier League campaign with star player Philippe Coutinho’s future still hanging in the balance.

After a series of conflicting reports, on Friday it has been reported that Coutinho has indeed officially requested a move away from Anfield.

Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group, made a “definitive” statement over Coutinho’s future, but the Brazilian still wants out.

According to reports from the Guardian, Coutinho requested his transfer via email, but the Reds have rejected it straightaway.

Liverpool have already turned down bids of around £72 million and £90.4 million from Barcelona, and are steadfast in their decision that the player won’t be sold this summer.

This could be Coutinho’s last-ditch attempt to force through a move, but his timing could not be any worse.

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has taken to social media platform Twitter to let know his verdict on the saga.

He feels that Coutinho loves the club very much. The timing of his transfer request is "bad though".

Liverpool face Watford away in the Premier League on Saturday, where Coutinho will miss with an alleged back injury.

Head Coach of Liverpool Jurgen Klopp looks on prior to the Pre Season Friendly match between Liverpool and Athletic Club at Aviva Stadium on August 5, 2017 in Dublin, Ireland.
