Celtic fans on Twitter want Kristoffer Ajer to replace Nir Bitton for their first-leg Champions League qualifier with Astana on Wednesday.
The Israel international has been used as a makeshift centre-back in recent weeks due to injuries to Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata.
And, being fair, Bitton has looked fairly comfortable in that role, but he no longer inspires confidence among the Hoops faithful after his performance on Friday.
Celtic edged out Partick Thistle with a 1-0 victory which the 25-year-old jeopardised by making a rash challenge late on in the penalty area, with Partick arguing afterwards that they should have had a penalty awarded for the perceived foul.
And fans of the Premiership champions have urged manager Brendan Rodgers to replace him with 19-year-old Ajer for their clash with Astana.
Brendan Rodgers blamed the pitch for Nir Bitton being shite at CB, if he plays there against Astana - Celtic are in big trouble— Darren Guthrie (@_officialtaco) August 12, 2017
#celtic also need a CB. bitton is not one! im sorry but that team needs more strength at the back and another attacker.— Gerry (@Gerrybhoy38) August 11, 2017
Ajar has to start on Wed. Bitton looked very awkward all night Brendan we trust your judgment but this is a huge game.— Celtic bhoy (@PedroreidPr) August 11, 2017
If anything it proves Bitton is never a centre half, good on the ball clueless off it. Big Ajer back in for Astana.— David Murray (@Davidmu75884878) August 12, 2017
Ajer should be in ahead of Bitton, makes no sense taking that risk v Astana— Free the Cynics (@Freethecynics) August 11, 2017
It's a huge game for Celtic, who will look to put one foot into the group stages of the Champions League by winning.
They could get up to £30 million as a reward for their qualification and there is absolutely no margin for error, so perhaps the supporters are right.
