However, both missed the whole of pre-season and will not be involved in the Premier League clash against Bournemouth. The Blues manager also went on give a positive update on the long term injuries absentees Séamus Coleman, Yannick Bolasie and Ramiro Funes Mori.
"Seamus and Bolasie are doing well, but takes time, everybody knows, even Funes is a long term injury. It makes things difficult", he told Liverpool Echo.
Seamus Coleman broke his leg during an international game against Wales and is expected to be out at least until the end of the year. Yannick Bolasie suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in December 2016 against Manchester United but is expected to be back in the first team fold before Christmas.
James McCarthy and Ross Barkley have been heavily linked with moves away from the Goodison, and with three weeks remaining in the transfer window, it remains to be seen what the future holds for them.
