Report: Burnley to launch £15 million bid for Leeds United's Chris Wood this weekend

Manager Sean Dyche of Burnley looks on during the pre season friendly match between Preston North End and Burnley at Deepdale on July 25, 2017 in Preston, England.

Leeds United are already said to be making moves to sign a replacement as they brace for Burnley's approach.

Burnley are to launch a £15 million bid for Leeds United striker Chris Wood this weekend, according to The Sun.

Sean Dyche's side sold Andre Gray to Watford for £18 million earlier this week, and it is claimed the Clarets boss intends to use the bulk of that money to lure Wood away from Elland Road, after making the New Zealand international his 'top priority'.

The Sun reports that Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen has already made moves to find a replacement for Wood, who is said to want to prove he can cut it at Premier League level.

The 25-year-old scored 30 goals in all competitions last season and has already opened his 2017-18 account, despite appearing just once so far.

Burnley signed Wood's Leeds teammate Charlie Taylor this summer, and the short hop across the Pennines could also appeal to the former, who is said to have interest from Brighton & Hove Albion as well (The Sun).

Leeds allowed another striker, Marcus Antonsson, to join Burnley's neighbours Blackburn Rovers on Friday, and have been linked with a move for Hamburg's Pierre-Michel Lasogga as the Swede's replacement (Yorkshire Evening Post).

Christiansen make be seeking further reinforcements, however, should Wood be next out of Elland Road.

Can Leeds keep hold of Wood in the wake of Burnley's alleged interest?
